5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

From today, July 26, 2019, it is available on consoles Wolfenstein: Youngblood, a new chapter in the series that over time has become the true icon of the fight against the Nazi threat in video games. There Second World War and, more generally, the Nazi occupation (localized in a realistic or alternative context) are topics that have repeatedly engaged the defending players of the homeland.

In whatever sauce is proposed, that Nazi is scum, as the good guy would say Blazkowicz, and must be annihilated with the bad. We therefore propose five video games (excluding Wolfenstein) in which it is possible killing Nazi soldiers and hierarchs. Furthermore, we have not included titles that contain only missions or separate modes on the subject.

5 video games against the Nazi threat

The Saboteur

5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

Set in 1940 in Paris, The Saboteur is a little-celebrated game released in 2009 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The protagonist is the foul Irish Sean Devlin, a skilled racing driver who goes to the transalpine capital to participate in a race. Events take an unexpected turn as Sean finds himself a leading member of the Resistance, the French Resistance to the Nazi threat. The Saboteur, as the title suggests, sees us engaged in mainly sabotage missions to be carried out preferably in stealth mode. A peculiarity of the Pandemic Studios title is the chromatic-stylistic choice: the free areas are in color, while the areas occupied by the Germans are in black and white.

Medal of Honor: Airborne

5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

Chapter of the Medal of Honor series set during the Second World War, in which we wear the uniform of Boyd Trevers, a soldier of the 82nd American Airborne Division who must face various field missions against the war power of Nazi Germany. Airborne did not take the player directly to the area of interest, but allowed him to parachute and then choose the path most congenial to him. This chapter of Medal of Honor gave the possibility to fill with bullets the soldiers of the Fallschirmjäger infantry (the German paratroopers), the elite assault soldiers, the Panzergranadier and many other real divisions of the Nazi army.

Velvet Assassin

5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

Xbox 360 and PC video game from 2009 similar in mechanics to The Saboteur. Again, our job is to infiltrate behind enemy lines to assassinate Nazi leaders and sabotage their plans. The protagonist is Violette Summer, a British spy inspired by a real character: Violette Szabo. Many sections of the game and some dynamics are taken from the Splinter Cell series, for example Violette can hide in the shadows. Also interesting are the morphine mode, during which the lethal spy can kill any alerted guard, and the SS disguise. Velvet Assassin did not scream a miracle at the time, but he had a good quality on his side in the transposition of the historical context.

Sniper Elite V2

5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

The saga that best of all puts us in the shoes of an infallible sniper. Sniper Elite V2 allows us to assassinate the Nazis with style and high precision, with the aim of completing the Paperclip mission. The secret agent Karl Fairburne must, in fact, infiltrate behind enemy lines in the Berlin of 1945 to bring to safety and recruit Nazi scientists, useful for the American cause. Scientists are working on the V2 project, which gives the title to this chapter of Sniper Elite, a ballistic missile that Germany used in the last stages of the war against Great Britain and Belgium.

Rocket Ranger

5 video games where the Nazi threat is eliminated (excluding Wolfenstein)

The fight against Nazism in video games has certainly not started in recent times (after all, Wolfenstein 3D was released in 1992). With Rocket Ranger we go to the classic, in fact the title even precedes the id Software shooter. Released in 1988 on the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64 and NES (two years later), the video game offered an alternative version of the Second World War, incorporating futuristic elements and sci-fi narrative choices. In 1940, a scientist - protagonist of the title - receives a message from the future and some objects never seen before. Among them are a jet pack and a laser pistol with which the player was to carry out the mission: to prevent the Nazis from taking over the world. Rocket Ranger was a mix of action and strategy, the latter quite deep with a map of the world divided into nations and territories.
