Amnesia Rebirth sells 100 thousand copies (but not enough to cover the costs)

Last year Frictional Games has returned to her horror series Amnesia with Amnesia: Reborn, and even if it wasn't a breaking game like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, has recorded excellent artistic results thanks to the team's impressive abilities to tell engaging stories and scare its players. As for sales, however, the game didn't exactly hit the road, but slow and steady still seems to satisfy the developer.

In a recent update, Frictional confirmed that Amnesia: Rebirth has sold over 100.000 copies since launch. Frictional explains that the sales were great at launch, and even if slowed down in the following months, from mid-February, have resumed and are now in line with those of SOMA.

Given this, Amnesia: Rebirth didn't sell enough for Frictional Games to make a profit, but the developer is confident that with the current current trend and with future updates (on which more details will be shared soon), the situation could change in the near future.

    Indeed, Frictional states:

“We feel really optimistic about the future of the game. We have seen a recent surge in interest in the game and it is receiving a lot of love and praise. Thanks to this, combined with future sales events and a bigger update we're working on (news to follow shortly), we are confident that the project will become profitable in the not too distant future. "

Amnesia: Rebirth is currently available for PS4 and PC, coming seven years after the second episode of the series, A Machine for Pigs. WelcomeGaming.com judged it with a 9, and according to our review (which you can find here) it is one of the most important and successful horror games of recent years.
