Unfortunately for us, due to the large and complex situation of the pandemic Carnival 2021 it was practically wiped off our schedules well in advance. No celebrations and no fun for this year, but that shouldn't lead us not to celebrate the anniversary. To do this, we propose a very special special: a ranking of five video games featuring parties where our alter egos can dress up and have fun, one way or another and for one purpose or another.

The Sims 4
Let's start with a game that the writer will have played yes and no once in his life, but that makes a lot of sense: let's go, how can you not think about The Sims?
In what is the "Alternative life simulator" par excellence, holidays are a special event (someone said Halloween?) in which to indulge ourselves with the tide of disguises that the game makes available to us along with decorations and mini-games. And, let's face it, they are also one of the main attractions, thanks to the always extravagant costumes and the typical crazy style of EA's milestone.
As for the costumes, you are spoiled for choice: witches, superheroes, ninjas, pirates, skeletons and so on and so forth. The important thing is that every costume is absolutely crazy.
How many of you love to spend whole evenings organizing exclusive parties and then letting your dear Sims go wild? Come on, tell the truth.
Dishonored
Dishonored is the great story of revenge and redemption of a masked antihero grappling with a court plot, and what better and more on-topic occasion for the murder of a noble with delusions of power than a costume party in his mansion?
This is exactly what happens in the game's fifth mission, in which Corvo must infiltrate the evil Lady Boyle's castle to eliminate her and take another step in its complex path of revenge.
He will do so by ending up immersed in a shining place, full of luxury and obviously of deceptions: getting lost in the corridors of the castle, surrounded by masked figures, is the perfect prelude to a tightrope mission, where every mistake can cost you dearly.
Ah, needless to say, the good Raven won't need any disguise: his "war mask" is enough and advances to conceal his true identity.
The Witcher 3
Another great costume game, one more masquerade ball: it's the turn of The Witcher 3, with one of the funniest and most romantic missions in the game.
In “Question of Life or Death”, set in Novigrad, the good Geralt is invited to an exclusive party in Villa Vegelbud. Together with the charming Triss Merigold, Geralt will infiltrate the luxurious party with a splendid mask that recreates the "white wolf" emblem, its symbol.
The mission is, as usual by The Witcher standards, well written and fun, but it is above all the main segment of the romance with Triss: it is in fact during this mission, in a moment of great and sincere closeness with the red-haired sorceress, that we will be called to choose whether reveal a feeling of pure and genuine love for Triss or reject her.
And everything is consumed during a very sweet scene.
Hitman: Blood Money
In Hitman Blood Money, third episode of the classic series of the 47 saga, one of the most beautiful missions of the game has as its background one of the most important carnivals in the world, on Shrove Tuesday in New Orleans.
47 is in fact called to kill three members of the Crows, criminal organization with the aim of assassinating a US senator during the party, and in his shoes we will have to make our way inside a perfectly recreated festive crowd.
Obviously, we can also dress up, and it will be a very respectable disguise: a little bird, a tender, sweet, colorful and fluffy little bird.
It goes without saying that everything acquires a truly exaggerated and sarcastic shape.
Assassin's Creed II
Last on our list is a very famous level, so much that at the time it was chosen as protagonist of the cinematic trailer of the game he is part of: the assassination of the Doge of Venice during the Carnival of the lagoon city in Assassin's Creed II.
It is one of the most memorable segments of the whole game and perhaps of the whole saga, in which not only we can admire the beautiful work of recreation of Venice in the 400th century, but also a beautiful reconstruction of what is still the most important festival in the lagoon city.
The result is a memorable game sequence, intense and well characterized.
Perhaps the most beautiful tribute to the carnival there could be.
It is true, unfortunately for us this year no Carnival, but we hope that we will remember together the many times in which video games have put us in the amusing circumstances of putting on a costume to carry out a mission. may have pleased you.
