Gotham Knights, shown the new Batman game without the Dark Knight

During the DC Fandom, the ongoing digital event on the world of DC Comics, the mysterious title on which Warner Bros has been working for some time has finally been shown. Apparently this is not another chapter in the Arkham series, but of a whole new episode set in the DC universe and called Gotham Knights.

In fact, there are many inconsistencies between the Batman Arkham Knight ending and the premises of this new episode where, from the first seconds of the trailer, one becomes aware of the death of Batman. The executioner, however, has left the role of protector of the city to his helpers, the bat-family that we had partly learned about in the previous chapters of the Batman Arkham series. In Gotham Knights we will be able to impersonate Robin, Nightwing, Red Hood and Batgirl, each with his skills and his gadgets, in a Gotham open world divided into its 5 characteristic neighborhoods. In addition, the rumors about the possible arrival of the Court of the Owls as villains have proved to be true given that both the members of the Court and their assassins, the Claws, are shown at the end of the trailer (click here if you want to know more about the Court of Owls).

In addition to the announcement trailer, a gameplay of the game which shows precisely the cooperative structure, some gadgets that the protagonists will use to move from one roof to another (such as the classic grappling hook and the cloak for gliding) but also a new vehicle, the Batmoto, which can be used to move around the city. In the gameplay trailer Batwoman and Robin will have to contend with Mr. Freeze, who after freezing Gotham's tower prepares to throw the city into a perennial winter. Freeze and the Court, however, will not be the only enemies of the game and official sources confirm that we will have to deal with many other enemies of the hooded crusader.

Gotham Knights will be released in 2021 per PC, PS4 and PS4 Pro, PS5, Xbox One e Xbox Series X and can be played in both single player and online co-op with other players.

The disappointment for a missing new chapter in the Arkham series is felt, but this Gotham Knights, however, seems to have all the credentials to spiritually continue the saga (or in one of the many alternative planet Earths of the DC Universe).
