Sony released financial results for fiscal 2019 long ago; these numbers show that the company as a whole has invoiced, between April 2018 and April 2019, the goodness of eighty billion dollars of which the majority are due to sales connected to Playstation.
So here we asked ourselves the appropriate question: but if we had to isolate the gains due solely to Playstation how much would Sony end up earning?
Well, we managed to find the answer and came to the conclusion that the Japanese company, with single-year earnings, is similar in value to the annual results of a small state.
Sony, with the Playstation earnings, could buy itself Laos or Afghanistan.
Now here we are a bit joking but a bit we are serious. According to data from Statista e GamesIndustry the Japanese company in the course of a single year earns only from the videogame sector (which includes the production, sale, development and everything related to games and consoles, including services) the goodness of twenty billion dollars.
Ok, let's take a deep breath and repeat once again: Sony earned twenty billion dollars between April 2018 and April 2019.

The funny part is that these twenty billion dollars are not too different in value from what some of the small states of the world manage to earn over the course of a year by adding up the efforts of all their companies. L‘Afghanistan, for example, over the course of a single year it has a gross domestic product (GDP) of 20 billion dollars; la Bosnia and Herzegovina, our neighbor, bills slightly more annually than the aforementioned Middle Eastern state, il Laos it's always there with the numbers.
How was it possible to achieve this?
According to data collected by Sony the miracle was the increase in gaming software sales, coupled with the growing subscriber base to Playstation Plus. Not much is known about how much services like Playstation Now have contributed but we think its contribution has been limited.
