Is Sony Really Stopping PS4 Supply to Stores?

Apparently some shops in Japan are advising their customers that Sony it is gradually ceasing to produce the various PS4 templates, so much so that some of them would no longer be available to refueling of stocks.

As reported by Twitter user Cheesemeister, a Japanese store displayed a sign in the PlayStation department stating that some PS4 models will no longer be delivered to the store by Sony. It is about the PS4 Glacier White da 500GB, 1TB e About 1TB, and the Jet Black da 1TB e 2TB.

The page of the PlayStation Direct Store, where according to PlayStation LifeStyle there was a message that read "There are no plans to restock this product in the future" in reference to the PS4 Pro. However, in absence of official messages from Sony, it is good to always treat these items as speculation, however credible given the task of the next-gen.

In any case, the PS4 will still have life given the console has extensive coverage while the new PS5 is late in coming. Sony itself has confirmed that the console support and its Pro version will continue for a long time to come. However, it remains to be seen how and to what extent they still intend to support its production.

Updating

On January 5, 2021 Sony confirmed and all PS4 models except for the 500GB Slim Jet Black version they were discharged from production in Japan, as reported by the Japanese colleagues of GameWatch (thanks to the translation of VGC). According to Sony, in this way it should speed up PS5 production too, disengaging the systems from the assembly of old consoles and making room for the new ones. We do not yet know when this deadline for store supplies will also take effect in the Western world.
