PS4: Update 8.0.0 introduces new avatars and changes to chats and parties

Starting today PlayStation 8.00 system software update 4 is available. The new update adds a series of new features relating to existing features such as the party, the message system, the avatars and the content filter. Let's analyze in detail the news of the update.

New management of parties and messages

As for messages and parties, they will now be more connected: voice chat player groups will be the same used for text messages, it will no longer be necessary to create different ones in the two apps. It was also introduced the ability to chat with PlayStation 5 users.

Again with regard to parties, it is now possible to deactivate all microphones directly from the quick menu.

New Avatars from PlayStation games

The avatar section available to users has been expanded. Icons have been added from famous PlayStation brands such as Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, The Last of Us Part II and many more.

New content filter and improved two-step verification

The content filter has been completely renewed: now the communication with the other players and the visualization of the contents created by the other playersi has been integrated in a single category. This makes it easier for parents to control the content their children see during their play sessions.

Regarding two-step verification, Third party apps are now supported for access on PlayStation 4.

Removal of events and private communities

From update to version 8.00 it will no longer be possible to create Events or access others created by friends and other users. The same is true for communities private that it was previously possible to create in the appropriate Community section. You will be able to continue to log into existing communities.

New for PlayStation 4 Remote Play

With the new update, the name of the “PS4 Remote Play” application available for Windows, Mac, Android and iOs will be changed to “PS Remote Play”. All this in view of the release of PlayStation 5 in November. The new console will, in fact, support the same function
