Star Wars The Force Unleashed

Review by Fabiano “Deimos” Backpack

Star Wars The Force UnleashedWhen George Lucas wrote the saga of Star Wars back in 1977, I am sure that he would never have expected such a success for his creation, not only as regards the films in the cinema but above all for all video game. Star Wars The Force Unleashed per PSP (the power of force, in its español translation) it is just the latest title in chronological order just released on the market. We are talking about dozens of titles present for the most varied gaming platforms.

THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE

Star Wars The Power of the Force aligns with the new episodes seen recently in the cinema, this game is nothing more than a bridge between end of episode 3 and what happens next in episode 4.

In the short starting tutorial, we will immediately take on the role of a Darth Vader to the nth degree, therefore endowed with numerous powers of the dark force and practically unstoppable in his mission, to track down a very powerful elusive Jedi and stop him: beyond expectations, this will turn out to be a child with such high powers, capable in that situation of even stealing Vader's own lightsaber. After a presentation video, we will finally be able to take control of the real character of the game, that same child who over time has become the first Vader's secret apprentice, embracing the dark side of the force.

The main story lets you play pleasantly, being well structured and amalgamated in the universe of star wars and will take us to thescouting of different planets, each with its own unique characteristics and setting, in carrying out our task: to seek and kill related threats to the empire - mainly rebels or Jedi masters still alive.

The game looks like a action game in the third person where the fight with the laser sword plays the main role. Being at the helm of a dark character, we will also have different and different powers already seen in the films and, in addition to the use of the lightsaber (the main weapon), we will be able to unleash a series of truly terrible combos. Among the most powerful powers, we mention the grabbing and throwing of enemies by pressing the triangle; the lightning stunned briefly (with the pressure of the circle); the click and the dodge that gives us the ability to dodge certain deadly blows and ultimately the ability to deflect blows of soldiers or the ability to launch and remotely command the lightsaber.

These just mentioned, however, are a small part of those that we may have during the adventure, being divided between basic and advanced powers, all of them will then be upgraded and developed to make them even more immediate and deadly - through a series of skill points that we can add to our liking. The combos instead are represented by very spectacular finishing moves that are performed mainly through the use of quick time event, then pressing the keys that appear on the screen at the right time.

Small flaw of the story mode is the poor longevity of the title, since the game is divided into planets, the latter will soon end and to continue the adventure we will have to return to worlds already explored and where unfortunately there will be the respawn of the enemies. But don't worry too much, theartificial intelligence is at an all-time low and there will never be real problems to overcome.

TECHNICAL AND AUDIO REALIZATION

As a PSP game, don't expect graphics resolution pushed to the max. The level of detail is limited, perhaps too much. THE polygonal models they are not detailed but they let themselves be looked at worthily, both as regards the texture than the animations, even more for the bosses at the end of the level. Even the sets are passable, have a good use of general lighting and contour details, we will be able to interact with numerous objects that are completely destructible or manipulable thanks to our gripping and throwing powers. Surely, the little one from Sony pays the consequences of its nature as a portable console for many defects in the graphics engine but also for some annoying bug featured in the title: mainly a excessively low frame rate in the most animated situations and some textures or polygonal models that suddenly disappear as we pass.

Sul front of the audio, the purchased sound, presents the classics songs already appreciated in films or other titles. The dubbing is entirely translated into español, very accurate also with regard to the differences in language of the races present in the Lucassian universe - as well as the sound effects of lightsabers, weapons and vehicles, everything is a real joy for the ears.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed

CONCLUSIONS

In truth, the game could have been much more spectacular and refined if the developers had not simply converted the title from the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. In circulation there are much more detailed and spectacular games (God of War above all), this defect that it can be passable for some quieter sections, instead leads to a series of slowdowns too marked as for the more hectic sections. Having said that, however, it cannot be denied that the power of force is a lot fun and immediate to play.

The title is therefore recommended for true lovers of the saga, those people who do not want to miss even a comma of the history of Star Wars and who want to know it in every little facet.

Moreover, the real difference between this title and others in the saga is that here we have the possibility to play with a dark character and to use its powers. For everyone else, it will be yet another badly curated action title that, once finished, will be left on the back burner.
