Starfield: new development details revealed by game director Todd Howard

Todd Howard, game director and supreme head of Bethesda, recently released statements with new details on the expected Starfield, the first sci-fi game from the US company famous for iconic sagas such as The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

During the Develop: Brighton Digital 2020, a digital event dedicated to the world of development, Todd Howards indulged in some statements that have clarified some aspects of Starfield better, with some brief mention also to future Bethesda games such as The Elder Scrolls 6.

The first thing to expect is that the Starfield game "map" will be even bigger than that of Fallout 76, which itself is four times the size of the Fallout 4 map. According to the game director, both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 are taking advantage of the procedural generation precisely for the creation of continents and land masses. Todd Howard also confirmed that Starfield will be a complete single-player experience, and that at the moment there is therefore no multiplayer functionality.

All this was made possible also thanks to thegame engine update Bethesda, which we already told you about here. The Bethesda Engine was also improved in rendering rendering, animations and in refining the AI especially in pathfinding, that is, in the search for the best path of movement (and presumably without joints and interpenetrations, hopefully).

Currently there is no precise launch window for Starfield, but it is assumed that with the arrival of the new generation of consoles, development may accelerate. Perhaps, even with the resources of Microsoft that has just acquired Bethesda, a more decisive advance could be expected. Todd Howard says it "will take some time".
