The Medium has haunted journalists since 2012

One of the most anticipated next-gen video games is definitely The Medium, ambitious horror of Bloober Team. The reason for so many expectations is to be found precisely in the defined game mode Dual-Reality which allows the player to interact in two completely different worlds at the same time.

It seems, however, that there are those who, like it or not, have known this project for some time because of marketing campaign details continued by Bloober Team.

The Medium's gameplay was revealed on the occasion of the recent Xbox Games Showcase in July, showing the actual functioning of the game in dual reality. What conceptually seems very simple, that is the giving of commands that are carried out by two entities on the screen in two different game worlds, is actually a technical flicker that in the opinion of many and of the Bloober Team itself can only now work on the new generation consoles.

We know that Bloober Team has been working on this game for several years, but the interesting thing is that right now, stories are popping up from journalists and former reporters about it. mysterious night calls from at least 8 years ago. The testimonies tell of a telephone ringing at 4.30 in the morning and of a message left on the answering machine.

Have you heard of The Medium? If not ... you will know.

Going back in time to 2012, NintendoLife pulled out an old domain, "medium-game.com“, Linked to a Bloober Team project planned for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Vita, Xbox 360, PC, Android and iOS. The description that made this site was "a completely new model of gameplay". Today this site redirects to the official site of The Medium.

That Bloober Team had been working on this project for some time was well known, but probably, as they themselves admitted a few days ago, the times were not yet ripe to support an ambitious game of the genre on a technical level, even if you have a console like the Wii U which was able to perfectly represent the spirit of the game: a double reality on a double screen.

In any case, returning to The Medium's strange marketing campaign, some of these journalists who received the night call in 2012 also received an anonymous message via traditional mail last week with strange postcards and the link of the current site of the game. Furthermore, right on the official website, the "motto" in plain sight above the game logo reads "So far you have only seen half".

In addition to describing the essence of the title that forces the game to split in two on screen, this sentence could also be linked to the famous mystery phone call of 2012. After the references to hearing and seeing, that Bloober Team is preparing other sensory experiences for reporters before release?

We remind you that The Medium will be released on Steam and Xbox Series X in exclusive time, and which will therefore be available on PlayStation 5 about a year later from the official release on Microsoft consoles. No dates are known yet, but Bloober Team assures it will be on our shelves for the end of 2020.
