Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 remasters announced for PS4

On Playstation 4, in addition to the episodes that continue the Yakuza saga (Zero and 6), it is present Kiwami, the remake of the first chapter released on Playstation 2. In August, however, it should make its appearance in the West also Kiwami 2, the remake of Yakuza 2, also released in the PS2 era.

These two versions represent a boon for anyone who wants to recover a very long-lived saga and today has a good number of chapters. What if someone who owns a PS4 has never had or still doesn't own the previous console? However, much of the story would be lost, because they were published on the console of the last generation Yakuza 3, 4 e 5 (the latter only in digital version).

The remasters of Yakuza 3, 4 and 5 are coming

From Japan, more precisely from the Ryokutya2089 portal, an announcement arrives that will make happy all those who cannot help but fist fights among the neon signs of Kamourocho. Sega has announced the release of the remastered versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 on Playstation 4.

An HD collection containing all three chapters will not be released, but each will have its own launch window. Dengeki Playstation let us know that the release schedule is as follows:

  • Yakuza 3 - August 9th for 3.990 yen (includes soundtrack download code)
  • Yakuza 4 - Autumn 2018
  • Yakuza 5 – Spring 2019

The remastered versions will have better resolution and better frame rate. These dates refer to the launch in Japan. No details on possible European dates have been published.

Yakuza 5 was released in Japan on PS3 in 2012, then only made its way to the West three years later. Of this chapter, however, there is only the version that can be downloaded from the Store.

Already towards the end of last month, some rumors had alerted fans to the possibility that this could happen. To these was added an interview given to Playstation Access by the producer of the series, daisuke sato. His statements were possible and with them he had hinted that Sega was willing to take this step.


Remember, therefore, that this is not a Kiwami operation, that is, no remakes will be released, but versions of those chapters with graphics in step with the times and a respectable frame rate. Between August 2018 and spring 2019, the Dojima Dragon will come back to make everyone understand who's in charge.
