What's better for the day of Valentine's day than daydreaming a little, perhaps going with your mind to some of the best love stories in art and entertainment?
Instead of offering you the usual literary loves, or the various memorable love stories of international cinema, we have decided to present you a list of five memorable (but perhaps not very “explored”) “couples” in the history of video games.

5)Arthur e Mary, Red Dead Redemption II
How do you say? "Where the hell is the love story" in RDR II?
True, the love theme is certainly not at the center of a huge game that tells a very large and multifaceted story, made up of redemption, revenge and greed. However, in the opinion of the writer it is not unusual to be struck by the poignant sentiment between Arthur Morgan and Mary Linton, his old love met again and in a completely casual way during the early stages of the adventure and destined for him to become an opportunity to change your life unfortunately impossible to pursue.
In Red Dead Redemption II the relationship between Arthur and Mary finds little space, but it is outlined by a couple of really touching scenes: the awkward and tender date in St. Denis (which unfortunately no others will follow), a heartbreaking farewell letter from Mary e the ethereal cinematic with the woman who goes on pilgrimage to the grave of her beloved, in the finale.
After all, Red Dead Redemption II is the story of a man who tries to do the right thing by finding himself in a vortex of violence, but it is also a moving story of a man who gives up on the one person he wants to love in order to protect his friends / brothers.
4)James e Mary, Silent Hill 2
Se Silent Hill 2 he is remembered for being a perfect psychological horror, it is also thanks to his story centered on two very strong and often linked feelings: that of love and that of remorse.
In the second episode of the Konami series, the protagonist James sunderland in fact he reaches Silent Hill driven by the "impossible search" of his late wife Mary, who began sending a series of mysterious letters from the city lost in the mist despite being long dead.
In this context, James' research is not only characterized by the discovery of an unspeakable horror, but above all by concretization of the scars imprinted on him by the illness and death of the woman he loved.
The result is not only one of the most complex, layered and symbolic horror games in history, but also a heartbreaking love story and able to make people think despite the almost total absence of narrative tricks such as obvious flashbacks.
3)Booker ed Elizabeth, Bioshock Infinite
On the identity of "love story" between Booker DeWitt, star of Bioshock Infinite, and his partner in adventure Elizabeth there would be a long article to write, as their relationship is very complex, layered and has turning points that lead the story to truly incredible results.
However, it is undeniable that for a large part of its development the game is based on an extraordinary alchemy between two characters drawn in a splendid way, which can lead the player to feel involved and hope that a love story will blossom.
Every shooting conducted together, every twist, every cutscene that emphasizes their relationship is a piece in the construction of a unique relationship in the history of video games for its depth and, even, for its absurdity.
At the end of the game (and the beautiful DLC, above all), the impression we have is that of having listened a melancholy and tender ballad about that relationship, on its extraordinary nature and perhaps also on how love can take on truly unpredictable forms.
2)Wander and Mono, Shadow of the Colossus
What are we willing to do for love? What extraordinary trials can we endure?
Wander, the protagonist of Shadow of Colossus, no limits are set: to the death of sweet Mono, a girl who seems to have loved deeply, steal her body and ride to hostile land to undergo a deadly test that could bring her back to life, even defying the wrath of the sages of his village.
Like a perfect classic epic, Shadow of the Colossus is nothing more than the heroic and giant scale projection of the feelings of its protagonist, a child nourished by an extraordinary love and able to tear down mountains that walk thanks to it.
Perhaps, one of the most beautiful video games about the power of love that have ever been developed.
1)Nathan ed Elena, Uncharted
After four video games with really love stories lacerating and sometimes depressive, in the first position we find one sunny and almost "normal", based on a truly exemplary writing: that between Nathan Drake ed Elena, which runs through the entire Uncharted series.
Started off as a peppery attraction in the first chapter, it first became a true love story with consistent and realistic ups and downs and then a happy marriage, the relationship between Nathan and Elena is the perfect "daily" counterpoint to the extraordinary adventures of the most famous treasure hunter in the contemporary videogame, able to give the series an unexpected and never banal lightness through an excellent Hollywood film setting.
A couple perhaps really impossible not to appreciate.
Picking just five good video game love stories for such a ranking is a chore, and we are sure that we have not proposed exactly the most famous and central love stories that could come to mind (hey, did anyone say Final Fantasy?), but these are the five that have softened the poor heart of the tender author of this special, so know that every choice was made really "with the heart".
