Monstrum, the horror with permadeath, arrives on consoles in May

Monster is already in the good graces of fans of horror games on PC. In fact, its release dates back to 2015, but now the time has come to scare even those who play on consoles.

On 22st May, Monstrum will be released by Team Junkfish on PS4, Xbox One e Nintendo Switch. The title will be available only in digital version, while the publication of the retail one has been postponed due to the COVID-19 emergency.

The protagonist wakes up on a merchant ship, does not remember anything (as usual in such productions), he only knows that he has to escape without looking back because a mysterious creature is chasing him. Monstrum is an exploration and clue-gathering video game in which the player is never allowed to face the hideous creature.

Fighting is not contemplated, the only way to survive is to hide and slow down the monster (now standard mechanics of today's horror). The main feature of the game, however, is another and it is the one that allowed Monstrum to be acclaimed as one of the scariest and most anxious of recent years: the permadeath.

There are no save points in Monstrum, so it will not be possible to resume the game from a checkpoint following a death. If the creature kills the player, the player will have to do it all over again, from scratch.

If that's not enough, know what the setting is procedurally generated, so do not think you can memorize the rooms, the paths, the assaults of the monster to advance faster after two / three runs go wrong. Each game will be different. The development team also announced that they are working on the sequel that will present one Multiplayer which involves a player on the run and another who, instead, control the creature. The follow-up is also planned for the end of this year.
